Praise For The Bulldog

A few weeks ago I wrote mini reviews of some New Orleans dining spots that my friends and I visited during our recent trip to the Big Easy.

Turns out my pea-sized brain was not functioning on all cylinders, because I forgot one place. The Bulldog, on Magazine Street in the city’s Garden District neighborhood, deserves a belated recommendation for its excellent burgers.

The beefburgers at this local pub are tremendous. Mine was a simple burger with cheddar, but the low price and laid-back surroundings belie the tastiness of my meal. A juicy, perfectly cooked patty and generous helpings of cheese on a fresh bun. Basic but incredibly well done pub food. My friends similarly enjoyed their meals at The Bulldog, which seems like a popular place with a great dining/drinking patio.

Only downside? Cranky bartender. But he looked hungover, so I could sympathize.
