Breakfast At Fripon’s

Woohoo, more Montreal restaurant reviews.

Last Saturday morning my friend Brent, my housemate and I had breakfast at Le Fripon in Old Montreal. It’s a restaurant housed in a historic building in the Place Jacques-Cartier, a large square that apparently is home to nothing but dining option after dining option, all with terraces looking out on the square for people-watching opportunities.

I had the continental breakfast of eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, toast and fruit. Not exactly the healthiest dish with which to start one’s day, but everything was cooked to perfection and the amount of food served was rather generous.

After more than six years in Washington, DC, I’m yet to find a place that offers a really good, basic breakfast like the ones I used to get back in the UK. Apparently such venues do exist this side of the Atlantic, it just requires a trip across the border to find them.
