Eleanor Clift is a famous liberal reporter, perhaps best known to many American television viewers as one of the pundits on the weekly political talk show The McLaughlin Group.
Although she’s still busy reporting these days writing for The Daily Beast, she took a few hours out of her schedule to get dinner with me in Chevy Chase, Maryland, to talk about reporting.
During our meal she talked about how she “stumbled” into the profession of journalism, and some of the highs and lows of covering every political campaign since Jimmy Carter’s first presidential run.
She also had plenty to say about what she sees as the state of news media today, shared her thoughts on the 2016 presidential campaign so far, and some of her planned future writing projects.
