President-elect Donald Trump takes office January 20th, and will probably head to a couple of inaugural balls that night — but Maryland State Senate Cheryl Kagan (the 90th dining stranger) has an alternative party planned. The Democratic lawmaker is hosting an “UnNaugural Concert” the same evening to promote progressive causes, featuring Sweet Honey In the Rock, Brother Sun, and more. Money raised from the event will go toward organizations that promote issues including gun control, reproductive choice, environmental protection, LGBTQ equality, and civil rights.
The concert, which has already received some local television coverage, starts at 7.30pm and is being held at the Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center, at 7995 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland. There’s a range of different ticket prices available from the event’s website.
