Louisa Hall Brings Her Ukulele To The Birchmere

Louisa Hall, the ukulele-playing singer-songwriter featured as the 57th stranger on this site, will be performing in early August as part of the 10th anniversary of “The 9 Songwriter Series” — a group of musicians working together to play larger venues than they would be able to book alone. When I met Louisa for dinner in May 2014 at DC’s Big Bear Cafe, she told me the series is a huge boost for up-and-coming artists, because they get a chance to perform a solo set, but also to work with others on some spur-of-the-moment pieces.

The 9 Songwriter Series’ 10th Anniversary Show takes place Friday August 9 at The Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia. In addition to Louisa, you’ll also get to hear music by Justin Trawick,The Sweater Set, Tiffany Thompson, Jenn Bostic, Brian Dunne, Jasmine Gillison, Eric Brace from Last Train Home, and Jason Ager. Venue opens at 5pm, seating starts at 6pm, and showtime is 7.30pm.
