Alex English At The Good Good Comedy Theatre

If you live in Philadelphia and want to see some stellar standup comedy next month, check out comedian Alex English’s show at the Good Good Comedy Theatre on Saturday January 18 starting at 10pm. I met Alex in October 2018 for the 112th interview with a stranger, and over breakfast in Brooklyn he shared the story of how he got into a career in comedy and the ups and downs of working in the business.

Here’s the blurb from Good Good Comedy Theatre’s website about the upcoming show:

Good Good is thrilled to present the super funny Alex English – in Philly from NYC for one night only! Alex is set to appear on the upcoming season of HBO’s High Maintenance and is one of the stars of the upcoming National Lampoon Radio Hour podcast. His other TV credits include Night Train with Wyatt Cenac, Chris Gethard Presents, Brooklynification and Viceland’s Funny How?. He was a writer for BET’s The Rundown with Robin Thede and Netflix’s The Fix with Jimmy Carr. Alex has appeared on the popular podcasts 2 Dope Queens, Las Culturistas, Unofficial Expert, Couples Therapy and more. He was named one of 15 Personalities That Need to Be on Television by Complex Magazine.

The podcast that the site refers to is the recently launched reboot of the “National Lampoon Radio Hour”. The original radio comedy series, from 1973, featured Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner and more. The new podcast version has an impressive list of writer-performers that includes Alex as well as Rachel Pegram, Brett Davis, Maeve Higgins, Lorelei Ramirez, Megan Stalter, Aaron Jackson and Martin Urbano, with Cole Escola as the head writer and performer, and Jo Firesteon as senior writer and performer.
