Throwback Thursday 70: Empire Of Sin

The 70th sequential Throwback Thursday feature is my dinner with New York Times best-selling author Gary Krist talking about his non-fiction book “Empire of Sin” that tells the story of New Orleans in the early 1900s.

We met in January 2015 at the since-closed Acadiana in DC for an evening of Cajun and Creole food, chatting about the Big Easy and researching the impressive book, Gary’s life as a writer, and much more.

It’s one of my top 10 favorite dinner interviews on a personal level (part of the chat covered off the record unrelated topics in addition to the interview), and I’m proud to call Gary a friend.

More recently he wrote “The Mirage Factory,” another non-fiction history book telling in an incredibly compelling way the story of the founding of modern Los Angeles about a century ago.
