Medium Rare Plans East Coast Expansion

Medium Rare, the DC-based steak frites restaurant owned by the 113th dining stranger Mark Bucher, is planning an East Coast expansion.

Mark told the Washington Business Journal this week that he’s looking to Baltimore as the next location for the restaurant, which offers diners a simple set menu of salad, freshly made bread, and two servings of steak and fries covered in a fantastic special sauce.

When I interviewed Mark in November 2018 at the Arlington, Virginia, location of Medium Rare, he said at the time there were no specific expansion plans at that moment. But he also ran through a list of potential candidate cities including Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Philadelphia and maybe Baltimore, saying, “We’re always looking for the next one, the next city.”

Meanwhile, Mark continues with his charitable work including his “Fill The Fridge” campaign to provide school lunches to communities throughout Washington, DC.
