Chef Brigtsen’s Lifetime Of Achievement

Had to come out of semi-hibernation to note a well-deserved award for Chef Frank Brigtsen.

Frank is the owner of Brigtsen’s restaurant in New Orleans, where I met him for a dinner interview back in September 2017. It’s a local landmark and consistently one of the best reviewed restaurants in the city. Before opening his own place in 1986, Frank worked at some of the Crescent City’s flagship fine dining restaurants, alongside such culinary wizards as the late Paul Prudhomme. And besides his rightly earned praise as a stellar chef, Frank is one of the nicest, most generous, and decent people I’ve had the honor to interview.

He was recently given the Ella Brennan Lifetime Achievement Award, not just for his contributions to cuisine, but also for his years of work mentoring and tutoring the next generation of chefs, and his commitment to the city he loves.

Congratulations Frank, and I can’t wait to get back to Brigtsen’s one day in the future.

Note: Dining With Strangers isn’t done, but it’s still on hold at the moment. Nevertheless, I have a growing list of people to interview once I resume this quirky hobby, so if you’d like to join the queue and dine with me, please get in touch.
