[Insert Witty “Go Bananas” Headline Here]

I’m writing up the sixth dinner with a stranger but as you’ve probably noticed by now the articles are somewhat long so it may be a few more days before this rather clownish piece is done.

Meantime, to get more updates on this site I’m going to use this spot to also talk about restaurants I’ve tried out recently and whether they’re any good. Last weekend I ventured over to DC’s Eastern Market neighborhood and a place I’ve tried before, the Banana Cafe.

The place serves Cuban, Mexican and Puerto Rican cuisine, so naturally I chose the most Italian dish on the menu. Ahem. Flank steak topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese, served with rice and beans. The steak was filling, but a bit flavorless, and probably worth a few dollars less than the $15.95 I paid for dinner.

Still, the Banana Cafe is a fun, brightly lit location that attracts a loud, friendly crowd. Recommended for groups of friends who want a (relatively) cheap, if not overwhelmingly flavorful, meal.

Oh, and the margaritas and daiquiris are rather strong and tasty, which explains why I don’t remember the end of the evening.
