Dessert In A Mug

Back from a long weekend in New Orleans and in desperate need of 1) money, b) the gym and iii) knowledge of whatever happened in the hour after I drank a bucket of frozen mango margarita and quickly turned a little bit simple.

While down in the Big Easy, my friends and I wandered round the French Market where local vendors hawk all manner of food, drinks, t-shirts, pictures, and various homemade trinkets. It was at the market that I fell in love.

That’s a picture of a steaming cup of Bananas Foster flavored coffee, made by the World Famous N’awlins Cafe & Spice Emporium. The emporium has a well-stocked section of the market selling coffees, spices, sauces and more.

Bananas Foster is my favorite dessert, and I need coffee to get me going in the morning, so I figured that a Bananas Foster coffee would be like Indiana Jones finding the Holy Grail. My friend Patrick rightfully noted that a banana dessert-tinged coffee would either be something I hated or loved. There would be no middle ground.

He was right. I loved it. It’s a smooth, slightly sweet coffee that has quickly become my favorite blend. The only downside is that I’m running low on the stuff, but at least that gives me an excuse to go back to New Orleans to buy some more.

And yes, I own a Union Jack coffee mug. I still love my home country.
