Interview 126: Dinner With DC Activist Rayceen Pendarvis

Rayceen Pendarvis is an instantly recognizable face for many people living in Washington, DC. For several decades Rayceen has worked as an activist on issues including homelessness, HIV, gentrification, and transgender rights. And recent work also includes being an emcee and finding success as the host of a popular music, talk and art variety monthly event called The Ask Rayceen Show. Earlier this month I met Rayceen for the 126th dinner interview at Sala Thai in the city’s Brentwood neighborhood to ask about all that work and much more.

I had a great time chatting with Rayceen, who promotes positive thinking and bringing communities together to tackle some of the most pressing issues facing the District. Click on the picture above, or on this link, to read about my interview with Rayceen, who’s often introduced at events as The High Priestess of Love, The Queen of the Shameless Plug, The Father of Five and Mother to Many, The Goddess of DC, The iconic, the legendary, Rayceen Pendarvis. After eating with Rayceen, I can endorse all of those titles.
