Margarita Pracatan’s Greatest Hits

Hello! Is it Margarita Pracatan you’re looking for?

The Cuban singing sensation — and the third stranger I met for dinner — is celebrating with a greatest hits show September 15 and 29 at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in New York City. Both shows start at 7pm and are just $22. I’ve hung out with Margarita a handful of times since I interviewed her, and can tell you $22 is a steal to see her perform.

When Margarita told me her story, she said that she moved to the United States from Cuba and always loved singing. Her unique singing style (watch the above clip for a sample) and outgoing personality led to her finding fame on British TV in the 1990s. And she’s still performing.

At her show, I’m sure she’ll be breaking out her rendition of “Hello” by Lionel Richie, which I captured when I had a sing-a-long evening with her at her apartment following our meal together back in November 2008.

But expect her to cover a wide repertoire from ABBA to Lady Gaga.
