Writer Jonn Elledge, the utterly charming, smart and funny 131st dinner interviewee, was the first interview on this site in almost five years back in January. He discussed his book “A (Brief) History of the World in 47 Borders,” which at the time was only available in hardback or audiobook (I got the latter and can highly recommend that version).
The paperback version is finally coming out in the UK on March 27 if you’ve not yet had a chance to read this fascinating book, a collection of essays that offer a rough outline of world history through stories about borders.
Ahead of the paperback’s release, Jonn is also using Bluesky to share some of the chapters that were cut from the original hardback version for space, including what the “Midwest” and manifest destiny teach about imperalism.
