Author Monika Pickett, the 128th stranger featured on this site, is hosting a talk and book signing, “If Only For One Night,” in Atlanta on Thursday May 22. It’s hosted by Mimi Faust, who was featured on “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” and in addition to Monika’s reading there will be a musical performance by Joya Bravo.
The event will take place at Studio House (75 John Wesley Dobbs Ave NE) from 8-10pm. Tickets cost $50 and include an open bar and snacks, or you can get a VIP ticket for $75 that includes a signed copy of Monika’s book “Pretty Boy Blue” and also get a red-carpet picture with the author
I met Monica for dinner in Arlington, Virginia, back in January 2020, when she shared her tale of becoming an erotic fiction author and LGBTQ advocate in a life that has as many twists and turns as one of her novels. Over an enjoyable dinner of Thai food she talked about coming out at an early age, serving in the Army and Desert Storm, divorce, a stroke and lengthy recovery, and much more.
