Help Fund Medium Rare’s Free Steak Dinners For Seniors

Following on from my recent post about DC-based steak frites restaurant Medium Rare delivering free steak dinners for seniors during the coronavirus, their kind campaign could now use a helping hand. Company co-founded Mark Bucher has launched a GoFundMe campaign with an ambitious $250,000 goal for funds that will be used solely for making and delivering the meals in and around the District.

The meal includes salad, bread, steak with fries, and dessert, and is free and delivered at no cost to seniors. If you know someone who could benefit from this free dinner, send Medium Rare a DM on Twitter or email Mark.

But they need help to keep the effort going and hopefully expand its reach. Here’s the fundraising description from the GoFundMe campaign: “We continue to feed area seniors with hot dinners during this crisis. Up to this point we have been self finding this effort. We now call upon the public, the charities we have donated to and the people we have supported in the past to join us in support of this effort. All monies collected will go directly to paying for food and packaging to deliver meals to folks over 70 in the metro area.”

Mark was the 113th stranger featured on this site when I met him for dinner back in November 2018, and in addition to having an interesting past, he’s also a charming and considerate person.
