Continuing the sequential Throwback Thursday features of past dinner features, here’s the 75th interview: my May 2015 dinner at the landmark Los Angeles restaurant Musso & Frank Grill with its proprietor Mark Echeverria.
The restaurant opened in 1919 and has catered to Hollywood celebrities and regular diners alike. It has also featured in many television shows and movies, most recently in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Mark never planned to be a restaurateur, and during our lengthy and highly enjoyable dinner he explained how he learned the ropes of the restaurant business and how he’s working to keep the Musso’s legend alive for years to come.
In July, Mark posted a note online saying that due to the coronavirus pandemic the restaurant is closed for now. But the good news is that construction work on new dining areas is ongoing, and he hopes to reopen the iconic eatery eventually.
